Women Supporting Women: Loft Projects NY Art Exhibition Funds Ovarian Cancer Research

When women support women, extraordinary things happen. We at Not These Ovaries are honored to share how our partnership with Loft Projects has demonstrated the power of creative collaboration. Founder and director Leslie Weissman curated an inspiring all-female artist exhibition that turned creativity into meaningful impact, directing portions of art sales to support our ovarian cancer research fund.

The Power of Women-Led Impact

Seventeen contemporary female artists came together through Loft Projects to create charitable impact through art. Through this innovative program, art sales helped fund critical studies and trials. As with all donations to Not These Ovaries, 100% goes directly to science.

Meet Our Partner

Leslie Weissman embodies the spirit of women supporting women. As a creative entrepreneur, artist, and curator, she has dedicated her career to nurturing every facet of the fine art ecosystem.

Her work extends beyond creating art. She coaches fellow artists and facilitates connections between artists and opportunities in galleries, residencies, and museums. As an art advisor, she guides individuals and institutions in curating and managing their collections.

Loft Projects, with locations in NYC and Chappaqua, serves as a vital hub for artistic expression and community impact. This partnership with Not These Ovaries perfectly aligns with Leslie’s commitment to meaningful engagement in the arts.

Why This Matters

Every year, thousands of women face ovarian cancer diagnoses, particularly younger women with rare subtypes like low-grade serous and borderline ovarian cancer. These forms remain severely underfunded, limiting treatment options and survival rates. Through this partnership, art becomes a powerful vehicle for change, connecting women artists directly to women’s health research.

The Collection

The accomplished artists brought diverse perspectives through their work:

  • Delicate oil portraits that capture intimate moments
  • Mixed media works incorporating unexpected materials
  • Bold abstract pieces that command attention
  • Intricate works on paper that reveal hidden narratives
  • Sculptures that challenge and inspire

With pieces ranging from $170 to $3,400, the collection made supporting research accessible at various levels.
